OSTATLI
February 14, 2012
OSTATLI, pronounced "oh-stat-lee," stands for "Open Source Test Automation Tool Love In." The first OSTATLI was held in 2009 as an informal gathering of interested participants exploring a wide range of open source testing tools. Continuing in that tradition, this is an informal, full-day, no-charge community event.
$99 Saturday - Modern Test Tools 101
February 18, 2012
There are more test automation tools than ever, and frequently both testers and programmers are expected to be familiar in their use. Tools like Cucumber, Robot Framework, Fitnesse, Selenium, JUnit, and RSpec have fundamentally changed the way organizations approach test automation. In this workshop we will examine each of the most commonly used tools and compare them to explore their differences and fundamental similarities. By the end, you will be able to speak knowledgeably about modern testing tools. You'll know the difference between a framework and a driver. You'll understand how each of the tools structures tests and test data. You'll understand the fundamentals of creating maintainable tests. And you'll get hands-on time to gain in-depth familiarity with the tool that works best for you.
$99 Saturday - Huh? Aha. Wow!
March 3, 2012
Dale Emery and Elisabeth Hendrickson lead this immersive class in designing, facilitating, and debriefing simulations and games to maximize learning. In this workshop, we'll practice turning commonly available materials into games in a very short time frame, then run those games to explore facilitation and debriefing techniques. Along the way, you'll learn about essential game design elements such as Chance, Balance, and Interference and how these game design elements can be used to design games to address specific learning objectives.
